The NSU-BSO Partnership Congratulates Spring 2012 Executive Leadership Program Graduates

On May 3, the Spring 2012 Executive Leadership Program (ELP) graduates were honored and presented with their certificates of completion by Colonel Tim Gillette, Executive Director of the Department of Law Enforcement at the Broward Sheriff Office (BSO), Frank DePiano, Ph.D., provost and executive vice-president for Academic Affairs at NSU, Kimberly Durham, Psy.D., Chair of the NSU-BSO Advisory Board, Tammy Kushner, Psy.D., NSU-BSO Advisory Board member, and graduating class spokesperson, Veda Coleman-Wright. The 33 ELP graduates were comprised of individuals of diverse ranks and professional backgrounds and included: public information officers, business managers, supervisors, internal affairs personnel, law enforcement personnel, fire rescue and emergency services personnel, and detentions personnel from six departments and two counties.

The ELP is a 16-week leadership development program that focuses on the development of key leadership competencies to help students grow with their agencies.  Topics of study include: leadership, organizational behavior, performance management, decision making and problem solving, organizational change and strategic management, budget and finance, crisis and emergency management, stress management, emerging technologies, and media relations.
