Graduated senior women’s golfer chosen as one of just 26 out of nearly 900 applicants.

Nova Southeastern University women’s golfer Daniela Ortiz, who just completed a sterling four-year career with the team, has been chosen to take part in a summer internship with the PGA Tour, beginning June 1 in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.

Ortiz (Sr., Morelia, Mexico) was selected as one of just 26 interns from a pool of nearly 900 applicants for the program. She will be working in the Digital-PGATOUR.com department for the duration of the 10-week internship.

“I am very excited for this opportunity,” said Ortiz. “This internship will help me expand my experience within my academic field, and to grow professionally. The best part is that I will continue to be close to the sport I love.”

Not only will Ortiz, who graduated this month with her bachelor’s degree in communication studies, learn about the Tour’s core business units first-hand in the digital department, she will also be able to interact with various high-ranking Tour personnel, including Senior Vice Presidents and Vice Presidents. In addition, she and the other interns will have the opportunity to participate in the program’s summer charity project.

Ortiz was a three-time All-American, three-time All-Conference and member of both the 2012 NCAA National Championship-winning Sharks and 2013 runners-up. She ended her career with 29 top-10 finishes, including four medalist honors, and placed fifth on the school’s all-time career scoring average list.
