Molly Blomer

Nova Southeastern University women’s basketball forward Molly Blomer earned her first Sunshine State Conference honor of her career on Monday, Jan. 11, as she was selected SSC Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office.

Blomer (Sr., West Chester, Ohio) was crucial in two close Shark wins last week. Against Barry, she scored 10 points and added seven rebounds, making a big 3-pointer midway through the fourth quarter and scoring four of the team’s last five points. She added three assists and two blocked shots, both in the final frame. Then, against Florida Southern, she made six 3-pointers towards 21 points, both career highs, with two 3’s (one in the fourth and one in OT) pushing the Sharks ahead. Again, she added seven rebounds, and her six 3-pointers came in only nine attempts.

She became the third Shark to garner weekly honors this year, joining Kayla Wright (Jr., Lauderhill, Fla.), twice Offensive POW, and two-time Defensive choice Monaye Merritt (R-Sr., Philadelphia, Pa.). The squad is back in action on Wednesday, Jan 20, when they travel to take on Tampa at 5:30 p.m.
