Pyles one of 12 collegiate athletes to earn a spot.

Nova Southeastern University setter Katie Pyles (So., Denver, Colo.) has been chosen to play for the Bring it Promotions’ Southeastern U22 Team at the 2015 European Global Challenge from July 8-18.

Twelve student-athletes make up the team that will travel to Falconara, Italy for three days of training sessions and friendly matches alongside Italian clubs in Falconara and Pordenone. From July 13-16, the team will compete in the 2015 European Global Challenge in Pula, Croatia, featuring junior national and club teams from throughout Europe.

Bring It Promotions, under the ownership of Tim Kelly, is managing the BIP-SE trip and has been running the Global Challenge tournament for 11 years. The 2013 squad placed second in the Brijuni Division at the Global Challenge.

“My coaches Jen (King) and Dan (King) had an enormous impact on my decision to take this amazing opportunity,” stated Pyles. “They presented me with experiences of former players that were also offered the opportunity to play with BIP, and it immediately caught my attention. I have always aspired to become a professional volleyball player and this opportunity will give me a perspective of the lifestyle of a professional volleyball player. I am not only looking forward to the high level volleyball and meeting new people, but the opportunity to experience a different part of the world. This trip will affect me personally and athletically by giving me the challenge to meet and compete against other college players as well as players from around the world.”

Pyles appeared in all matches and 103 sets for the Sharks in 2014. She earned SSC Offensive Player of the Week after becoming the first player in program history to record back-to-back triple-doubles against Daemen (9/13/14) and Queens (9/13/14). She finished the season with four triple-doubles and led the team in assists with 801, good for fourth in the Sunshine State Conference.

“I know Katie is going to have a great experience with the BIP Southeastern Team this summer,” stated head coach Jen King. “Competing on an international level against elite athletes is going to expand her knowledge of the game as well as give her a glimpse of the life and career she aspires to have. I’m excited to see how she will apply the things she’s going to learn, and how they will help us achieve our goals as a program.”
