NSU Volleyball Player Earns First SSC Player of the Week Award in 2016

Nova Southeastern University’s Denvyr Tyler-Palmer (So., Jacksonville, Fla.) was named Sunshine State Conference Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 4, 2016. She earns the first volleyball offensive award issued by the conference office in 2016.
The sophomore outside hitter led the Sharks offensively to a perfect 4-0 start at the Ninth Annual Sharks Volleyball Invitational over this past weekend (Sept. 2-3), which was hosted by NSU at the NSU Arena at the Don Taft University Center. She opened the season with an 18-kill performance against Adelphi and followed it with three straight double-double (kills and digs) performances against Arkansas Monticello, Bentley and No. 11 Rockhurst. Tyler-Palmer had two performances of 20 or more kills and had two matches with a .300 hitting percentage or higher topping out at .421 against UAM.
Against the preseason ranked No. 11 Rockhurst Hawks, Tyler-Palmer recorded a season and career-best 29 kills and added six total blocks in the Sharks’ 3-2 win. Her 29 kills rank second-most in a single match in Nova Southeastern program history. She surpassed NSU former standout Tracey King who held the second spot with 26 kills set against Eckerd on Sept. 18, 1999.
