NSU Vascular Sonography Students and Graduates Receive Award to Attend International Conference

Every year, the Society for Vascular Ultrasound (SVU), a nonprofit organization of professionals in the field of diagnostic ultrasound imaging specializing in assessing vascular diseases, organizes a conference where professionals gather to receive continuing education and hear about the latest news in pathology of vascular diseases, management of vascular laboratories, and technology in diagnostic ultrasounds.

Philips, a major manufacturer of diagnostic ultrasound equipment, awards five annual scholarships of $1,000 each to a student or professional in the field to defray some of the costs of attending the SVU meeting. Out of 20,000 or more professional and student SVU members – Lynn Fehner, a graduate of the vascular sonography program at NSU College of Allied Health and Nursing, and Victoria Cortez, who is currently enrolled in the vascular sonography program, both received a scholarship this year to attend the meeting in Boston from June 9 – 13. Cortez also received the opportunity to present a case study as a first-time presenter this year. This is the third time an NSU vascular sonography graduate or student received such a scholarship. Samuel Yoders, a 2006 graduate of the vascular sonography program, received the scholarship in 2005 to attend the meeting held in Philadelphia.

Congratulations to all.
