NSU Undergraduate Honors Students Recognized at Spring Banquet
The Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences held its annual Spring Honors Banquet on Apr. 20 at the Signature Grand in Davie, recognizing students in NSU’s Undergraduate Honors Program for their academic achievements and excellence. More than 350 people—including students, alumni, family members, friends, and NSU faculty members and administrative staff—attended the event.
Don Rosenblum, Ph.D., dean of the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences, opened the formal dinner and ceremony by welcoming the Honors students and their guests, and acknowledging students for their involvement throughout the university, as well as within the Honors program. NSU president George Hanbury II, Ph.D., also addressed those in attendance. Following dinner, Rosenblum recognized the students who served as the 2011–2012 Honors Advocates.
The evening also included the award of Citations in General Honors to 23 students. These citations are granted to graduating seniors who have completed at least 15 Honors credits, have earned a minimum 3.4 GPA, and have maintained active participation in the Honors program and related events.
Students earning Citations in General Honors were Ramey Alfarra, Maryam Abid, Diana Blanco, Melanie Campbell, Danielle Cooper, Rachel Corseri, Joseph Costa, Gabrielle Devove, Inna Dumova, Amir Eldick, Bridget Farrell, Maliha Fatima, Yael Haklai, Michael Ianniello, Dania Jaggon, Ahmad Khalid, Rebecca McLaughlin, Andrew Mikhail, Calista Siobhan Ming, Reena Parikh, Sagir Patel, Catalina Rodriguez, and Tincy Thomas.
Citations in Divisional Honors then were presented to two students for their completion of Honors theses. Students receiving this esteemed recognition were Ramey Alfarra and Sarah Yassin.
To conclude the ceremony, Rosenblum awarded Distinguished Honors Scholarships to 10 students chosen by the college’s Honors faculty members. The award represents outstanding accomplishment and future potential in Honors scholarship and involvement.
