Pride Bite: Soaring to New Heights
Did you know that NSU’s campus sits on what was once a WWII auxiliary airfield? Named Forman Field, the land was given back to the community after the war by the state Board of Education to be used for educational purposes. It is now called the South Florida Education Center (SFEC) and is home to NSU and other institutions of higher education. Fast forward 50 years: NSU now offers a Human Factors in Aviation Concentration within the Bachelor of Science in Human Services Administration program that is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the Human Factors associated with flight.
Hungry for more aviation-related trivia? NSU’s 314-acre main campus sits right below the flight path for Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, through which 11.5 million people travel each year. Couple the flight path with NSU’s history as a former airfield and now you know why the Flight Deck has its name!
