Members from the NSU Track and Field Participate in SeussFest

Since men’s and women’s track and field head coach Bryan Hagopian has been at Nova Southeastern University, he has volunteered for the annual SuessFest event which celebrates Dr. Seuss’ birthday held at the NSU library. This year, the track and field athletes dressed as the Cat in the Hat as well as Thing 1 and Thing 2 for the more than 2,000 attendees who were eager to see some of their favorite Dr. Seuss characters.

“I have personally worked with the library in volunteering for this event since my first year,” Hagopian said. “This event always has a huge turnout with hundreds of kids. The goal of this event if to encourage reading for young kids and I think Dr. Seuss books are the best books for kids who are starting to read. The event has gotten bigger each year and they have expanded on the characters so I would have my athletes volunteer to dress as characters for the kids.”

“Dressing up as a Dr. Seuss character was a lot of fun,” said freshman runner Tori Hritsko. “I enjoyed playing with the kids and making them laugh. It makes my day to know I can put a smile on a child’s face just by dressing up as a Dr. Seuss character with the costume and make up. My favorite part was how happy the kids were to see us when we first walked into the library, there were so many happy faces and I could not stop smiling.”
