NSU Supports Autism Awareness Month

Autism awareness RibbonIn order to highlight the growing need for concern and awareness about autism, April has been designated Autism Awareness Month. Nova Southeastern University joins with other leaders in the autism community to use April as a special opportunity to educate the public and showcase our support for individuals with autism, their families and the professionals who serve them.

On Thursday, April 2 – World Autism Awareness Day – NSU students, faculty, staff and alumni were encouraged to wear blue. Thank you for showing your support, Click here to view some of the photos you, your friends, coworkers and colleagues posted wearing blue on April 2 via Twitter using the hashtag #NSUBlue.

For more than 30 years, NSU has been dedicated to providing high-quality services for individuals with autism across their life span. From innovative, direct-service programs to academic coursework to research, this has been a major focus of our university – and that continues today. NSU’s Mailman Segal Center for Human Development (MSC) is known as a leader in the field of autism and for providing services to those diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

In addition, our Interdisciplinary Council for the Study of Autism, housed at MSC, is comprised of approximately 40 individuals across NSU who share information and design collaborative projects in the areas of research, direct service, training, clinical work and academic program offerings. It is this spirit of cooperation and collaboration that truly sets NSU apart and makes us a model for others across the country to emulate.
