NSU to Host Third-Annual Pi Day Celebration, March 14
Every year, March 14 provides an opportunity to talk about mathematics in a fun way – that’s because it’s international Pi Day. Remember, in math, Pi is commonly referred to as 3.14 (i.e. 3/14).
This year, Emilola Abayomi, Ph.D., assistant professor in Nova Southeastern University’s (NSU) Halmos College of Natural Sciences and Oceanography will be the featured speaker at “Happy Pi Day,” with a presentation: A Slice of Probability with a Side of π. The presentation is scheduled for 12:05-12:55 p.m. Monday, March 14 at NSU’s Fort Lauderdale-Davie Campus in the Mailman Hollywood Building, Room 309, 3301 College Ave., Fort Lauderdale.
Along with the fun lecture about Pi and probability, attendees will receive free pie (the edible kind) and beverages! For more information, please contact Shahla Nasserasr, Ph.D. at 954-262-7973 or via e-mail (snasserasr@nova.edu).
