NSU to Host Stigma Fighters: Mental Health Awareness Festival, Join us on April 2

Stigma Fighters FlyerNSU is hosting Stigma Fighters: Mental Health Awareness Festival on April 2, 2016 in the Fellows Way courtyard between the Carl DeSantis Building and the Miniaci Performing Arts Center. The event will be held from 10:30 am – 1:30 pm.

This festival, which is free and open to the public, celebrates the resources available in the community for mental health.

The Mental Health Awareness Festival is sponsored by the College of Psychiatric and Neurologic Pharmacists (CPNP), an organization at the NSU College of Pharmacy,  several student organizations including the NeuroPsych club from the College of Osteopathic Medicine, groups from the College of Undergraduate Studies, as well as community partners.

Featuring music, art, food, and fun, the event will also host the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Broward County chapter, the Depression Bipolar Support Alliance, Henderson Clinic, the Florida Initiative for Suicide Prevention (FISP), and more community organizations that strive to help people with mental illness as well as their families. RadioX will provide entertainment and there may be surprise appearances.

This event will open the dialogue on mental illness and address the stigma attached to mental illness which affects more than one in four individuals at some point in their lives. It will provide a fun and safe environment for families and include hands on activities as well as education.
