NSU to Host Sport Science for High Performance Study Abroad Camp, ends July 21
The NSU College of Health Care Sciences, Department of Health and Human Performance, Exercise and Sport Science program is hosting Sport Science for High Performance, a study abroad camp for students, practitioners and professors from Brazil’s Universidade de Ribeirão Preto (UNAERP). The study abroad camp will take place from July 17 – 21, 2017 on NSU’s Fort Lauderdale/Davie campus. Participants will engage in hands-on workshops with NSU faculty and community sports scientists. Activities include 3D motion capture to analyze elite runners, sports nutrition and combat sports, body composition assessment using Dual-energy X-ray Absorptiometry, metabolic cart use to test oxygen consumption, and how to conduct sports performance field tests. Attendees will also be touring the Miami Dolphins facility, Bommarito Performance Systems, NSU’s Sports Medicine Clinic, the Alvin Sherman Library, and NSU’s Oceanographic Center. The camp is designed to provide an educational opportunity for UNAERP affiliates studying exercise science, coaching or sports medicine. Professor Monique Mokha Ph.D., ATC LAT CSCS and Associate Professor Tobin Silver Ph.D., CSCS are sponsoring this program with guest workshops from Corey Peacock Ph.D., CSCS CISSN and Kelley Henderson Ed.D.,ATC LAT.
