NSU to Host Mobile Fort Lauderdale Vet Center, May 24

Mobile Vet Center PhotoNSU is proud to host the Mobile Vet Center. This Veteran Outreach/Information event will be held in collaboration with the Fort Lauderdale Vet Center from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 24 on NSU’s Fort Lauderdale/Davie Campus. It will be located in the “Shark Circle” by the Don Taft University Center and Rosenthal Building.

The customized motorized vehicle, closely resembling an RV, is equipped with confidential counseling space and a state-of-the-art communication package. Veterans can receive counseling for post-traumatic stress issues, military sexual trauma, marriage and family counseling, and information on VA benefits information. The vehicles also serve as part of the VA emergency response program. Veterans and their family members are invited stop by and receive information on Vet Center services.  Staff will be available to discuss readjustment and transitional needs and to help connect veterans to VA and community resources.

Veterans are highly encouraged to bring a copy of their DD214 (discharge paperwork) to assist in determining eligibility for services Veterans in the South Florida community or family members of a veteran, who are interested and would like more information, are encouraged to contact Angela Yehl at 954-262-8299 or e-mail (yehl@nova.edu).
