NSU to Co-Host Conference: “Baby Boomers: What’s Next for You?” Nov. 4

Longer lives call for a changing view of life span and life’s opportunities. Nova Southeastern University (NSU) and the Town of Davie are co-sponsoring “Baby Boomers: What’s Next for You?” — a conference designed to help participants create an “encore” life of meaning and value — on Friday, November 4, 2016, at NSU’s Fort Lauderdale/Davie campus. The event will be held in the Carl DeSantis Building from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Keynote speaker Chris Farrell will discuss, “Unretirement: A Social Movement Gaining Momentum.” Farrell authored the book, “Unretirement: How Baby Boomers are Changing the Way We Think About Work, Community and The Good Life.” His “unretirement” is a new vision of the elder years, less of a model of disengagement from work and neighborhood to one of continuing engagement in work and community.

The conference will include four concurrent sessions following the keynote speaker, including:

• Anne Goldberg, of Savvy Senior Services – “The Art of Living Longer”
• Robert Oller, D.O., NSU chief medical advisor, Division of Clinical Operations – “Perspective for Health Challenges Facing Boomers”
• Albert Williams, Ph.D., associate professor of finance and economics, NSU H. Wayne Huizenga College of Business and Entrepreneurship – “Boomer Entrepreneurship”
• Barry Nierenberg, Ph.D., associate professor of psychology, NSU College of Psychology — “Increasing Your Well-Being: What Do We Know?”

Rita Smith, Ph.D. , who will be the closing speaker for the event, will speak on “From Awareness to Action: Powerful Next Steps.” Dr. Smith is the author of “Empty Nest, Empty Desk, What’s Next?” a book debuting in 2017.

Registration for the full conference is $45. An early bird registration rate of $40 is available through October 27. Space is limited. Register online at www.boomerbreakthrough.com. Contact Kitty Preziosi at kitty@boomerbreakthrough.com or 954-915-0101 for more information.
