Nova Southeastern University women’s tennis head coach Stephen Schram has brought in Kayla Rizzolo as the new graduate assistant coach for the women’s tennis team.

Rizzolo joins NSU after finishing her collegiate playing career at the University of South Florida, where she was honored in multiple occasions for her hard work and success leading her team.

“I would like to welcome Kayla to the Shark family,” said Schram. “She was a very accomplished junior tennis player and a standout student-athlete for the University of South Florida women’s tennis team. She will be a great asset to our program and I look forward to working with her.”

Originally from Jupiter, Florida, Rizzolo graduated with magna cum laude honors from USF. As a 17 year old, Rizzolo was ranked professionally in the top 800 WTA singles and top 750 WTA doubles after three events.

Prior to joining the USF Bulls, Rizzolo played one year for the University of Miami Hurricanes, where she was individually ranked in the top 60 for ITA in the nation as a freshman. She contributed to the Hurricanes’ team being ranked in the top four and reaching the quarterfinals of the NCAA tournament.

Rizzolo reached the final of the Big East Conference in 2013 playing for the Bulls. She was named a member of the American All-Athletic Conference Team and ITA All-Academic team during her senior year. In 2014, Rizzolo led her team as a co-captain to win the AAC conference title, qualifying for the NCAA tournament.
