NSU Tennis Voted No. 4 in the SSC
The No. 7 Nova Southeastern University tennis team has been voted fourth in the Sunshine State Conference preseason coaches’ poll. The Barry Buccaneers, Saint Leo Lions and Lynn Knights led the Sharks in the overall poll.
The Sharks obtained 45 total votes compared to 32 from the 2015 preseason poll. NSU has experienced an evident improvement in its tennis program, considering their tough competition in the SSC. The Bucs were the only conference team able to defeat the Sharks during the 2015 regular season and are now the six-time defending SSC tournament champions going into the 2016 season. Barry claimed first place in the poll with 63 total votes, followed by Saint Leo with 57 and Lynn with 49.
NSU was recently selected as the No. 7 tennis team in the ITA national poll. Head coach Stephen Schram counts on nine prominent players in his roster for the upcoming season. The Sharks begin their spring season at home at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 12 against nationally-ranked No.1 Armstrong State.
