NSU Student-Athletes Attend Financial Literacy Seminar
Nova Southeastern University student-athletes attended a financial literacy seminar in the athletic academic center on Thursday, Nov.13. The workshop, presented by PNC Bank, offered free pizza while helping student-athletes understand how the financial decisions they make now will affect their lives in the future.
Cristie Ledon, graduate assistant of athletic academic services, stated, “The topic of financial literacy is extremely important for our student-athletes as they make decisions regarding their future.”
Student-athletes from all sports attended, including Jordan Lentz (Fr., Fort Myers, Fla.) from the women’s soccer team who stated, “The program taught me how to be smarter with my money and I realized it’s never too early to make a budget. Athletes have so much they are concerned about throughout the day and sometimes the money situation gets pushed to the side. I learned that just cutting down unnecessary weekly purchases can help with my future savings and even a small amount can make a big difference.”
