NSU Sport Management Students Help Plan MLB Celebrity Bowling Tournament to Benefit Scholarships, May 19

Cliff Floyd with this year’s Facility and Event Class

NSU students enrolled in graduate and undergraduate sport event courses are getting real-world experience as they partner with former Major League Baseball player Cliff Floyd in preparing for the inaugural Cliff Floyd Foundation Celebrity Bowling Tournament. The charity event takes place on Sunday, May 19 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at nearby SpareZ on South University Drive in Davie. Join Cliff and other celebrities including Luis Castillo, Charles Johnson, Mike Lowell, Gary Sheffield and Rondell White for this special event!

Proceeds from the event benefit HANDY, Helping Abused, Neglected and Disadvantaged Youth, and will create two Cliff Floyd Sport Management Scholarships – one for a graduate student and one for an undergraduate student.

The NSU community is invited to support the event in one or more of the available opportunities:

  • A lane sponsorship is $500 and includes signage and a celebrity bowler.
  • A team of four is $200.
  • Single bowlers are welcome at $50 each.
  • Non-bowlers can join the fun for $35.

In addition to the bowling competition, there is a silent auction and raffle.  Sign up for the event at www.cff30.com or call Adjunct Professor Nancy Olson, M.Ed, M.S., at (954) 383-1132.
