NSU Speaker’s Forum Hosted by Dr. Larry A. Calderon, Sept. 9
Ronald Kern, Ph.D., associate dean of academic affairs and program professor at Nova Southeastern University’s Abraham S. Fischler School of Education, will be the featured speaker at NSU’s Speaker’s Forum on Friday, Sept. 9. He will talk about: Increasing Graduate Student Retention and Graduation Rates: Fischler’s Title V-B PPOHA Grant Initiative.
Kern has extensive experience in academic affairs. Prior to coming to NSU, Kern held various academic, administrative positions including vice president for academic affairs, dean of higher education, dean of the graduate school and various other academic appointments at the dean level. He received his Ph.D. in higher education administration and computer education and cognitive systems from the University of North Texas, and holds several industry credentials, including the A+ and Wideband Gigabit Network Engineer certifications. A teacher at heart, Kern has always maintained close contact with the classroom by teaching in both graduate and undergraduate programs.
He has been recognized in Who’s Who in the World, in America, in Education, and in American Education. He also received the Master Teacher Award and Teaching Excellence Award from the National Institute for Staff & Organizational Development along with several other Distinguished Professor recognitions over his teaching career.
The weekly Nova Speaker’s Forum, hosted by Larry A. Calderon, Ed.D., Nova vice president for community and governmental relations, takes place each Friday from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The audience is treated to a delicious hot breakfast and an opportunity to learn about the fascinating people that make Nova a great university. The Speaker’s Forum is held on the second floor of the Horvitz Administration Building in the President’s Board Room.
