NSU Speaker’s Forum Hosted by Dr. Larry A. Calderon, Sept. 3
Maureen Simunek-Appelt, M.B.A., learning manager at NSU’s Office of Human Resources, will be the featured speaker at the NSU Speaker’s Forum on Sept. 3. She will host an interactive discussion about how the NSU Employee Orientation can be improved. The presentation will include innovative training approaches and brainstorming based on the participants’ experiences at NSU.
Simunek-Appelt joined the Office of Human Resources in 2005. She is responsible for the creation and delivery of employee training and development initiatives in soft skills, organizationally mandated training, and client requested services. She first came to NSU in 1996. Since then, she has worked at the NSU Health Care Centers as the director of operations for the medical clinics and as a manager of employee services for the Student Educational Centers. She earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from NSU in 2000 and her master’s degree in business administration in 2006. She is certified with Achieve Global in Leadership & Customer Service training. She is also a certified administrator of the Myers-Briggs type indicator instrument, as well a certified consultant with Birkman International, Inc.
The weekly NSU Speaker’s Forum is sponsored by Larry Calderon, Ed.D., NSU’s vice president for community and governmental affairs. Taking place each Friday from 9 a.m. – 10:30 a.m., in the Boardroom of the Horvitz Administration Building, these forums allow speakers from the university to present on a vast array of topics, including their latest programs, research, campus activities and more. The forum includes breakfast as well as a question and answer session at the conclusion of the presentation.
