NSU Speaker’s Forum Hosted by Dr. Larry A. Calderon, Oct. 28


Andrés Malavé, M.S., Ph.D., professor and dean of Nova Southeastern University’s College of Pharmacy


Andrés Malavé, M.S., Ph.D., professor and dean of Nova Southeastern University’s College of Pharmacy, will be the featured speaker at NSU’s Speaker’s Forum on Friday, Oct. 28. He will discuss pharmacy topics relating to the celebration of American Pharmacist Month.

Prior to his appointment as dean, Malavé served as the associate dean for research and graduate affairs for the College of Pharmacy and chairman of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences.  Malavé was instrumental in the development of the College of Pharmacy’s international program and its Doctor of Pharmacy program in Ponce, Puerto Rico, which he also directed from 2001- 2004.  He served as chairman of the Research Council of the Health Professions Division and as a member of the Committee on Faculty Scholarship, Research and Professional Development at NSU.

Malavé served as dean of the College of Pharmacy at the University of Puerto Rico for six years and as an adjunct professor and consultant to the School of Podiatry Medicine at Barry University. He presently holds faculty positions at the University of Puerto Rico and a visiting professor academic rank at the “Universidad Nacional Mayor San Marcos” in Lima, Peru.

Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Malavé received his bachelor of science in pharmacy degree from the University of Puerto Rico in San Juan.  He was awarded his master of science (M.S.) and doctor of philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees both in pharmacology and toxicology from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.

The weekly NSU Speaker’s Forum, hosted by Larry A.
