NSU Speaker’s Forum Hosted by Dr. Larry A. Calderon, Oct. 15
Rita Silverman, M.P.S., administrative director of the Office of Clinical Research (OCR), which is a branch of NSU’s Office of Research Technology & Transfer, will be the featured speaker at the NSU Speaker’s Forum on Oct. 15. She will discuss the services provided by the Office of Clinical Research to NSU faculty who are involved in clinical research trials. OCR provides support to faculty investigators before, during, and after a clinical trial. Its team of certified research professionals and attorneys manage research processes and coordinating services for each step of the trial.
Silverman has been the administrative director of the OCR since June 2008. Prior to joining OCR, Silverman served as the director of clinical research at NSU’s College of Osteopathic Medicine. After earning her master’s degree in human relations from New York Institute of Technology in 1994, Silverman began her career in clinical research by conducting psychometric assessments for Alzheimer’s disease. She is certified by the Association for Clinical Research Professionals and has organized industry-sponsored clinical trials for over 16 years in various therapeutic areas.
The weekly NSU Speaker’s Forum is sponsored by Larry Calderon, Ed.D., NSU’s vice president for community and governmental affairs. Taking place each Friday from 9 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. in the Boardroom of the Horvitz Administration Building, these forums allow speakers from the university to present on a vast array of topics, including their latest programs, research, campus activities and more. The forum includes breakfast as well as a question and answer session at the conclusion of the presentation.
