NSU Speaker’s Forum Hosted by Dr. Larry A. Calderon, Nov. 5
Hui Fang Huang “Angie” Su, Ed.D., program professor of mathematics education at NSU’s Fischler School of Education and Human Services and Elmira Leto, CEO of the nonprofit Samuel’s House, Inc., will be the featured speakers at NSU Speaker’s Forum on Nov. 5. They will talk about The Habakkuk Project: Habakkuk 2 Village, a community in Key West where individuals in need can obtain services and housing to improve their quality of life.
Su is the creator of Project MIND – Math Is Not Difficult®, a K -12 mathematics enhancement project currently being implemented in hundreds of classrooms throughout the United States. Prior to becoming a professor at NSU, Su was the K-12 mathematics specialist in the Division of Academic Programs for the Palm Beach County School District. Leto founded Samuel’s House in 1999. The nonprofit was established in Key West to provide services of an emergency/short-term shelter for women and women with children.
The weekly NSU Speaker’s Forum is sponsored by Larry Calderon, Ed.D., NSU’s vice president for community and governmental affairs. Taking place each Friday from 9 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. in the Boardroom of the Horvitz Administration Building, these forums allow speakers from the university to present on a vast array of topics, including their latest programs, research, campus activities and more. The forum includes breakfast as well as a question and answer session at the conclusion of the presentation.
