NSU Speaker’s Forum Hosted by Dr. Larry A. Calderon, Mar. 11
Ron Chenail, Ph.D., vice president for Institutional Effectiveness, professor of family therapy, and director of the graduate certificate in Qualitative Research Program at NSU, will be the featured speaker at the NSU Speaker’s Forum on Mar. 11. He will talk about “Institutional Effectiveness – What is it and why is it important?”
Chenail is also editor of two journals – The Qualitative Report and the Journal of Marital and Family Therapy. He has written over 100 journal articles, book chapters, and books, given over 170 conference presentations, and secured and worked on grants and contracts totaling over $700,000. His books include Medical Discourse and Systemic Frames of Comprehension, Practicing Therapy: Exercises for Growing Therapists (with Anne Rambo and Anthony Heath), The Talk of the Clinic: Explorations in the Analysis of Medical and Therapeutic Discourse (with Bud Morris), and Qualitative Research Proposals and Reports: A Guide (with Patricia Munhall). He earned his B.A. in history from St. Bonaventure University in 1978; his M.Ed. in educational psychology-counseling from the University of Houston in 1984; and his Ph.D. in Family Therapy from then Nova University in 1989.
The weekly NSU Speaker’s Forum, hosted by Larry A. Calderon, NSU vice president for community and governmental relations, takes place each Friday from 9 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. The audience is treated to a delicious hot breakfast and an opportunity to learn about the fascinating people that make NSU a great university. The Speaker’s Forum is held on the second floor of the Horvitz Administration Building in the President’s Board Room.
