NSU Speaker’s Forum Hosted by Dr. Larry A. Calderon, Jan. 13



Kevin A. Clauson, Pharm.D.



Kevin A. Clauson, Pharm.D., associate professor at NSU’s College of Pharmacy and adjunct associate professor at NSU’s College of Osteopathic Medicine’s Biomedical Informatics, will be the featured speaker at NSU’s Speaker’s Forum on Friday, Jan., 13. He will discuss launching NSU’s Center for Consumer Health Informatics Research.

Clauson serves as the director of NSU’s recently launched Center for Consumer Health Informatics Research (www.CCHIR.com). He received his Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Tennessee – Memphis and completed a research fellowship at the University of Missouri – Kansas City. He has presented nationally and internationally on the topic of consumer health informatics. Clauson has published over 40 articles in peer-reviewed journals as well as numerous abstracts and proceedings. His research has generated coverage by sources including the New York Times, CBS-TV, Forbes magazine, and BBC Radio.

Clauson has also consulted for organizations ranging from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to the World Health Organization (WHO) in the areas of public health informatics and eHealth.  He served his profession in many capacities including as an item writer for the North American Pharmacist Licensure Examination (NAPLEX) and as a reviewer and editorial board member for pharmacy and informatics journals.  His current research includes mHealth initiatives such as the use of text message reminders to improve medication adherence in patients with type 2 diabetes and evaluating consumer online health information seeking behaviors.

The weekly NSU Speaker’s Forum, hosted by Larry A. Calderon, Ed.D., NSU vice president for community and governmental relations, takes place each Friday from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The forum will be held at the Huizenga Business School Room 5026.
