Larry A. Calderon, Ed.D., NSU vice president of community and governmental relations.

Larry A. Calderon, Ed.D., NSU vice president of community and governmental relations, will be the facilitator of an open topic discussion at the NSU Speaker’s Forum on Friday, Feb. 4. This will be an opportunity for the NSU family to share and exchange ideas, thoughts, and insights.

An expert in strategic planning and educational policy, Calderon brings 33 years of higher education experience to NSU. Prior to joining NSU, Calderon served as president of Broward College. He began his higher education career at Ventura College in Ventura, Calif. Then, went on to serve six-and-a-half years at Los Angeles City College, and after earning his doctorate from USC, he served 10 years as a vice president at Oxnard College. In July 1995, he returned to Ventura College to serve as its president. In addition to the presidency, he also served as the district’s vice chancellor for economic development. A fellow of the National Community College Hispanic Council and the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, Calderon was awarded the 2003 Latino Town Hall Education Award for his efforts in establishing and expanding an East Campus for Ventura College in the city of Santa Paula.

The weekly NSU Speaker’s Forum, hosted by Calderon, takes place each Friday from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The audience is treated to a delicious hot breakfast and an opportunity to learn about the fascinating people that make NSU a great university. The Speaker’s Forum will be held at the Horvitz Administration Building in the President’s Board Room, which is located on the second floor of the building.
