NSU Speaker’s Forum Hosted by Dr. Larry A. Calderon, Dec. 9


Barry Nierenberg, Ph.D., ABPP


Barry Nierenberg, Ph.D., ABPP, Associate Professor of Psychology at NSU’s Center for Psychological Studies will be the featured speaker at NSU’s Speaker’s Forum on Friday, Dec. 9. He will discuss the “science of happiness.”

Nierenberg is Board Certified in Rehabilitation Psychology, a member of the Executive Board of the American Board of Rehabilitation Psychology and is the Past President of the Academy of Rehabilitation Psychology. He holds additional secondary Academic Appointments within the Department of Psychiatry at the Nova’s College of Medicine and at the Department of Family Medicine within the University Of Miami Miller School Of Medicine.

For the past 30 years, Nierenberg has held numerous leadership positions as a Psychologist working with other healthcare professionals in hospitals across the country.  Prior to joining NSU three years ago, Nierenberg spent the previous 18 years as a Senior Psychologist at Jackson Memorial Hospital/University of Miami Miller School of Medicine where he served for many years as Director of Child Adolescent Psychology within the Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences Department and later as Director of Behavioral Science within the Department of Family Medicine.

Nierenberg is a past president of the American Psychological Association’s Division of Rehabilitation Psychology. He was awarded their prestigious Distinguished Service Award in 2008 as well as their Lifetime Achievement Award in 2009.

The weekly NSU Speaker’s Forum, hosted by Larry A. Calderon, Ed.D., vice president for Community and Governmental Relations, takes place each Friday from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
