NSU Speaker’s Forum Hosted by Dr. Larry A. Calderon, May 27
Cecilia F. Rokusek, Ed.D., R.D., executive director of education, planning, and research at Nova Southeastern University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine and the project manager for the newly renamed NSU’s Institute for Disaster and Emergency Preparedness, will be the featured speaker at the NSU Speaker’s Forum on Friday, May 27. She will discuss bringing state and federal connections to NSU.
Rokusek has had a 32-year career in higher education. During that time, she has distinguished herself as an outstanding teacher, scholar, and administrator. Born and raised in Tabor, South Dakota, she has maintained her Czech heritage. She is fluent in both the Czech and Slovak languages.
NSU’s Institute for Disaster and Emergency Preparedness (IDEP), which works closely with state and national agencies to develop and distribute its educational programs and services, is the recent recipient of U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) grants from the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR). The grants are used to develop and implement interdisciplinary bioterrorism and all-hazards preparedness curriculum for health profession students as well as continuing education for 37,000 health care professionals and health care workers in South Florida.
The weekly NSU Speaker’s Forum, hosted by Larry A. Calderon, Ed.D., NSU vice president for community and governmental relations, takes place each Friday from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Breakfast will be served.
