NSU served as the site for the National Diversity Council’s 4th Annual Florida Women’s Conference recently.  Hosted by NSU’s H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship, more than 190 executives from corporations and businesses across the state attended the day-long conference according to site organizer Karen Goldberg, associate director of Recruitment & Special Events at the Huizenga Business School and Diversity Council member.

J. Preston Jones, D.B.A., dean of the Huizenga Business School provided the opening remarks and welcome address. Diana Thomas, vice president of Training, Learning and Development for McDonald’s U.S.A., provided the keynote address. Activities included vendor exhibitions, breakout sessions focused on a considerable range of timely topics including, women and smart risks, the politics of promotions, managing conflict, and shattering the glass ceiling.

A highlight of the conference was the awarding of the National Diversity Council’s Glass Ceiling Award, which celebrates the achievements of women who not only achieved personal success but make it possible for others to more easily follow in their footsteps. NSU’s Jacqueline A. Travisano, M.B.A., CPA, executive vice president and chief operating officer, was named a recipient of the Glass Ceiling Award for 2014.
