Providing Service – NSU Rowing Team volunteers at PATCH Community Garden
The Nova Southeastern University rowing team spent Martin Luther King Jr. Day volunteering at the Dania Beach PATCH Community Gardens.
The community garden in Dania Beach aims to eliminate blight and improve quality of life by providing green spaces in urban residential districts. They provide locally grown, organic produce for community members in need.
In what has become an annual event, the rowers were able to learn about the importance of access to fresh and organic produce. The team spent three hours prepping soil for planting and also learned about food deserts and how even a small garden can make a large difference. Complete Release
