NSU Professor Participates in National Webinar on Bullying, Cyberbullying and Suicide Prevention
Scott Poland, Ed.D., professor at NSU’s Center for Psychological Studies, recently participated in a national webinar on bullying, cyberbullying and the prevention of suicide. The webinar was conducted by the national, award-winning CyberBully Hotline program. During the webinar, Poland addressed the latest trends in bullying and cyberbullying, suicide prevention strategies and how to respond in the event such a tragedy occurs.
Poland is also the co-director of NSU’s Suicide and Violence Prevention office. In addition, he is an internationally recognized expert on school crisis, suicide prevention and response expert and has authored several books on the subjects. Poland is a founding member of the National Emergency Assistance Team for the National Association of School Psychologists and has assisted schools and communities after many tragedies such as school shootings, suicides and acts of terrorism. Poland is dedicated to suicide prevention, having presented more than 1,000 workshops in every state and numerous countries and has testified about the needs of children before the U.S. Congress.
