NSU Professor Leads Seminar on School Crisis Intervention

Scott Poland, Ed.D. discusses prevention techniques with the group.

Scott Poland, Ed.D., professor for NSU’s Center of Psychological Studies, recently taught two seminars on “Crisis Intervention and Schools”  for the Duval County Public Schools at NSU Jacksonville Campus.  Over 115 people attended including area educators, counselors, school psychologists, social workers, and police officers.  Poland discussed the causes and prevention techniques for school shooters, bullying, and youth suicide.

Poland is a nationally recognized expert on school crisis, youth violence, suicide intervention, self-injury, school safety, threat assessment, parenting and the delivery of psychological services in schools.
