NSU Professor Honored by American Association of Endodontists


Peter Murray, B.Sc. (Hons), Ph.D. an edondontics professor at Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine.


Peter Murray, B.Sc. (Hons), Ph.D.,  an endodontics professor at NSU’s College of Dental Medicine, will receive the Ralph F. Sommer Award from the American Association of Endodontists at their 2013 Annual Conference in Honolulu, Hawaii.  The award recognizes Murray’s significant publications on developing stem cell and regenerative therapies which have contributed to the art and science of dentistry.

Murray has published 155 scientific articles, book chapters and abstracts. During the past year, Murray has been an invited keynote speaker at the American Dental Association, Indian Dental Association, and Mexican Endodontic Association annual conferences. Murray’s stem cell research has been featured on several news reports. Murray has held several research grants. He is editor-in-chief of the World Journal of Stomatology, and editor of the textbook “Endodontic Treatment.”  The goal of Murray’s research is to give dentists the ability to regenerate teeth and tissues for their patients.

The American Association of Endodontists, headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, represents more than 7,200 members worldwide. Endodontics is one of nine dental specialties formally recognized by the American Dental Association. The AAE, founded in 1943, is dedicated to excellence in the art and science of endodontics and to the highest standard of patient care. The Association inspires its members to pursue professional advancement and personal fulfillment through education, research, advocacy, leadership, communication and service.
