NSU PR Professional Elected President of Local Chapter of Public Relations Society of America
Ken Ma, M.B.A., associate director of public affairs at Nova Southeastern University, was recently elected to serve as president of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Greater Fort Lauderdale Chapter. Ma’s one-year term will run through 2012. Chartered in 1947, PRSA is the world’s largest and foremost organization of public relations professionals. PRSA provides professional development, sets standards of excellence, and upholds principles of ethics for its members and, more broadly, the multi-billion dollar global public relations profession. It is also an advocate for greater understanding and adoption of public relations services, and acts as one of the industry’s leading voices on the important business and professional issues of our time.
Prior to becoming president, Ma served as the chapter’s interim president and co-president. The chapter covers Broward County with hundreds of members and prospective members. During Ma’s tenure, he was able to successfully implement a chapter name change from PRSA Gulfstream Chapter to its current name; help revise the chapter’s bylaws; and bring in notable speakers such as social media giant Foursquare executive Charles Birnbaum.
