NSU Physical Therapy Students Excel in National Athletic Competitions

Marcia Darbouze

Two Nova Southeastern University College of Health Care Sciences physical therapy students from the class of 2014 have achieved prominence in national athletic competitions in April and May. Both Jamie Gold and Marcia Darbouze ranked nationally in their respective competitions.

Gold participated in the 2012 Southeast CrossFit Regional competition on May 5 and 6, which is a worldwide event with 70,000 competitors. She finished in 2nd place overall.  This earned her a spot to compete at the 2012 Reebok CrossFit Games, in which only the top three men and women from each region earn a qualifying spot. Gold is one of the 45 women in the entire world who qualified. The 2012 Reebok CrossFit Games will be aired on ESPN on Jul. 13 and 15.

Darbouze participated in the Collegiate National Powerlifting Competition on Apr. 13 in Baton Rouge, La. She placed 2nd in the competition, with a squat of 314 lbs, bench of 165 lbs, and a deadlift of 385 lbs.
