NSU Orlando Hosts Lean Six Sigma White Belt for Community
NSU’s Orlando Student Educational Center, in keeping with the university’s value of giving back to the community, recently hosted a free training day for the Central Florida community. Ninety persons from more than 25 organizations attended the training and were awarded certification for the Lean Six Sigma White Belt training course which was offered by NSU’s H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business & Entrepreneurship (HSBE). The course taught participants how to incorporate Six Sigma concepts such as Define, Measure, Analyze, and Improve & Control, into their work environment in order to create real financial gains for their companies and customers.
This event which was successfully promoted through the SEC’s membership organizations in the community, including ASTD, Diversity Council, and Networking Events, has sparked high interest among the participants who expressed their desire to go to the next level of the training program – the yellow belt. Some have also indicated their interest in the degree programs offered by the Business School and some actually submitted in their application to the program.
This white belt training course was conducted by Frank Voehl, Director of Process Improvement for the Hudson Center of Entrepreneurship and Executive Education at the Business School. Voehl, a Grand Master Black Belt in Lean Six Sigma, will be conducting the yellow belt training at the Orlando SEC on Friday, December 8 and Saturday, December 9.
