NSU Optometry Students Win Project Foresight
For the third straight year, two NSU College of Optometry students won a national competition for developing an idea for an optometry practice of the future.
Fourth year students, Samantha Kayser and Heather Gauger, won the Walmart & Sam’s Club Health and Wellness Project Foresight scholarship competition, which awarded them a $15,000 scholarship and traveling trophy. This year’s theme was “It’s Your Practice, Your Community and Your Success!”
The NSU students’ plan was to create an interprofessional practice focused on the care of patients with traumatic brain injuries.
The winners were announced at the American Optometric Association’s annual meeting in Boston. Last year’s champions were Jeremy Chartash, O.D. and Jay Harrelson, O.D. and the previous year’s winners were Blake Dornstauder, O.D., and Rhea Butchey, O.D.
