NSU Optometry Dean Chosen as Florida Optometrist of the Year
David S. Loshin, O.D., PH.D., F.A.A.O., dean of NSU’s College of Optometry received the Florida Optometrist of the Year award from the Florida Optometric Association on July 24 during the organization’s annual convention in Orlando. The prestigious accolade was given to Loshin for his tireless efforts to advance education at the College of Optometry and contributions to the Florida optometric community.
“I am honored to be selected for this award by my colleagues,” Loshin said. “They have recognized our academic advancements at the College of Optometry and our enhanced relationship with the Florida Optometric Association.”
In his role as dean of the NSU College of Optometry, Loshin has been instrumental in developing creative programs including the Optometry Extended Program, the Preliminary Optometry Program and a complete online masters of science in clinical vision research. Under his leadership, The Eye Care Institute, the clinical arm of the professional program, has grown with the most advanced instrumentation and utilization of electronic medical records.
