NSU Library’s Circle of Friends Hosts “Enchanted Evening,” Installs New Board Members

The Circle of Friends for NSU’s Alvin Sherman Library recently enjoyed an “Enchanted Evening” at the group’s Annual Meeting and Officer Installation. The April 14 meeting, held in the library’s Second Floor Gallery, also offered guests an opportunity to view the exhibit; “Guy Harvey: Watercolors and Drawings,” currently on display through June 30.

Outgoing board members Diane Brewer, Raquel Ferrero and Michael Greenberg were recognized for their devotion and service. Recognized for his two-year term as President, Adolfo J. Cotilla, Jr. will now serve as Past President for the next fiscal year.

The group is also pleased to welcome Rose Amberson, Jana Hanbury and Ann Porterfield, newly elected to the board. Circle of Friends officers now include Ray Ballotta as President, Marianne Ferro as Vice President, Michelle Tuggle as Secretary, and Larry Maurer as Treasurer.

The “Enchanted Evening” also included dinner in the library atrium, followed by a musical performance by pianist Michael Caldwell, D.M.A., Director of the Division of Performing and Visual Arts at NSU’s Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences.

Event sponsors were ACAI Associates, Crawford Tracey Corp., C Davis Electric and JWR Construction Services.  Patrons of the event were C Davis Electric, Panza, Maurer and Maynard, Sandy and Kenny Tate, Rabbi Lewis and Marlyn Littman, Peter Palin and Linda Bolitho, and Barry and Susan Somerstein.

Centerpieces were created and donated by Joan Baxt. A successful chance auction was held, with gifts donated by the Joan and Milton Baxt Foundation, Chanel Bal Harbor, Museum of Art / Fort Lauderdale, Nova Southeastern University and American Airlines.

Funds raised as a result of the “Enchanted Evening” benefit the Alvin Sherman Library.
