NSU Library Hosts “Lost Airmen of Buchenwald” Documentary Screening, Sept. 29
NSU’s Alvin Sherman Library will host a screening of the documentary “Lost Airmen of Buchenwald” on Sunday, Sept. 29 from 2 to 5 p.m. in Room 4009 of the Alvin Sherman Library.
“Lost Airmen of Buchenwald” chronicles the little-known story of Allied airmen imprisoned at the Buchenwald Concentration Camp in the waning months of World War II.
The film tells this harrowing story through interviews with seven surviving members of the group, including their heroic commanding officer. It follows them from their days hiding with the French Resistance to the darkest corners of the Holocaust, where they struggled to survive as Germany collapsed under the attack of the advancing Russian and Allied armies.
In addition to the film, local artist Marilyn Johansen, the daughter of a survivor of a Stalag Luft III prisoner of war camp, will talk about the book Clipped Wings.
