NSU to Launch Respiratory Therapy Program

Marianne Jankowski, DHSc., RRT, Chair, Dept. of Cardiopulmonary Sciences and Director the Respiratory Therapy Program

Nova Southeastern University’s College of Health Care Sciences will offer Florida’s first-ever bachelor of science in respiratory therapy for licensed registered respiratory therapists (RRT). The program, which offers students a bachelor of science degree, will start in October at NSU’s Palm Beach Student Educational Center (SEC).

“Our unique respiratory program provides every opportunity for students to succeed in being lifelong learners, critical thinkers, evidence-based practitioners, managers, and the best provider of care in a multitude of environments,” said Marianne Jankowski, DHSc., RRT, Chair, Dept. of Cardiopulmonary Sciences and Director of the Respiratory Therapy Program. “Students will be challenged to achieve their highest potential in this field.”

Classes will be taught fully online and run 12 weeks from faculty at the SEC, which is located in Palm Beach Gardens.  The program will offer students the flexibility to continue to work while obtaining their degree. The program, which can be completed in as little as 24 months, is designed to promote students to perform a range of services requiring more complex cognitive abilities and patient management skills. It will provide the necessary background to become involved in higher level respiratory therapy education.

Moreover, the program allows respiratory therapy professionals to further their education to master and doctoral levels. Graduates from this program will have job opportunities in the respiratory therapy field in the areas of sales, clinical educators, health and medical services management. The program is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
