NSU Lands Four on D2CCA All-South Region Teams
Two weeks removed from capturing All-Sunshine State Conference honors, four Nova Southeastern women’s soccer players added more accolades Wednesday by being named Division II Conference Commissioner’s Association (D2CCA) Second Team All-South Region.
Freshmen Hannah Christophe, Ida Norstrom and Emma Santamaki earned their first career all-region recognition, while senior Nichole Poppe picked up her second after landing a second team all-southeast region selection a year ago as a member of Mount Olive. The Sharks’ four honorees across both teams rank most among all SSC schools.
Christophe cracks the list after not only being selected first team all-conference, but becoming the first Nova Southeastern player since Lauren Prow back in 2007 to take home the SSC’s Freshman of the Year award. Christophe finished second in the league in goals (10) and third overall in points (21). The Brampton, Ontario native also netted three game-winning scores, fourth-most in the SSC, and recorded a pair of hat tricks in wins over Lynn and Palm Beach Atlantic. Christophe is just the third freshman in program history to reach the double-digit goal mark in a single season, and first to do so in the last 10 years.
