NSU’s Institute for Child Health Policy teamed up with the Diplomat Hotel and Resort to host an inter-professional consortium featuring Harvey Karp, M.D., a nationally renowned pediatrician perhaps best known for his book, Happiest Baby on the Block. NSU faculty members from the Health Professions Division, Center for Psychological Studies and Mailman Segal Center for Human Development joined representatives from U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s office, the Broward County Pediatric Society, the Early Learning Business Institute and Family Central.

Karp is a child development specialist and assistant professor of pediatrics at the University of Southern California School of Medicine. In pediatric practice, for nearly 30 years, Karp has taught thousands of parents, from working moms to superstars like Madonna, Michelle Pfeiffer and Pierce Brosnan his secrets for soothing colic, boosting infant sleep, reducing tantrums, promoting patience and making parents and children happy.
