NSU Hosts President’s Faculty Research and Development Grant (PFRDG) and Quality of Life Awards Ceremony

The 15th Annual President’s Faculty Research and Development Grant (PFRDG) and 12th Annual Quality of Life Awards ceremony was held on Tuesday, May 13 in the Don Taft University Center on NSU’s main campus.

NSU President George L. Hanbury II, Ph.D., and Vice President for the Office of Research and Technology Transfer Gary Margules, Sc.D., recognized 39 research projects that received PFRDG awards up to $10,000 each for fiscal year 2015. They also recognized the dedication and innovation of the 56 faculty members and 54 students from the 13 academic units, who submitted a total of 65 PFRDG proposals. Special recognition was given to Appu Rathinavelu, Ph.D., Jeffrey Thompson, Ph.D., Joseph Harbaugh, LL.M., for the recent acquisition of patents on their respective inventions.

The president thanked faculty members as well as Broward County Community Partners who represented the Quality of Life project submissions including the Outstanding Community Partner of the Year – Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (CARD) – which was accepted by Luis Grana.

There were three Quality of Life awards of up to $10,000 presented in the areas of Adult General, Children & Families, and Elderly Services for fiscal year 2015.
