Guy Harvey, Ph.D.

The multi-talented Guy Harvey spoke at the H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship on September 23. He was featured as a Distinguished Lecture Series speaker at the Rose & Alfred Miniaci Performing Arts Center on NSU’s campus. Harvey is a marine artist, scientist, diver, angler, conservationist, explorer, and entrepreneur. He has licensing agreements with 15 partners, and products sold in more than 1,000 stores. In 2013, more than 2 million t-shirts were sold. Harvey shared his successes as well as some “embarrassing parts of the brand.” He spoke briefly about the wrong partner for a chain of restaurants with a much too ambitious expansion plan. Although it was embarrassing, he noted, “One day it will come back.” A recent success comes in the form of his artwork on Norwegian Cruise Line’s largest ship. Harvey will design the signature hull artwork of the 4,248 passenger Norwegian Escape, scheduled to debut in October 2015. His work is not only recognized world-wide but will also benefit and be enjoyed by generations to come.

Among his many awards, Harvey was also inducted into the Huizenga Business School’s Entrepreneur Hall of Fame in April, 2014. He joins world-class Hall of Fame entrepreneurs such as H. Wayne Huizenga, R. David Thomas and John H. Schnatter to name a few. His most recent marketing slogan is not just clever, it is true. He is, “Real Guy – Real Life.”

The Distinguished Lecture Series is sponsored by the John H. Schnatter Family Foundation. The Foundation was established in 1997 and has provided support to numerous charitable causes across the country since its inception.
