NSU Wraps up 2012 Senate Debate with Webcast Featuring Political Analysis with Renowned Experts
NSU was proud to be the host site for the only Florida Senatorial Debate during the 2012 election season, which pitted Florida’s incumbent U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson (D) against Republican challenger U.S. Rep. Connie Mack in NSU’s Minaci Performing Arts Center on Wednesday, Oct. 17.
The debate was broadcast statewide on local television stations, and streamed live at each NSU Student Educational Center, and in the Knight Auditorium of the Carl DeSantis building on main campus.
Then, after the debate, NSU and Florida Blue hosted the first-ever Post-Debate Analysis Webcast featuring Moderator Kevin Corke, former White House correspondent for NBC News.
During the Webcast, Corke, interviewed a LIVE panel of experts including prominent political leaders, journalists, representatives of both candidates’ campaigns, star high school debaters, and NSU’s own Gary Gershman, Ph.D., a history and legal studies professor in the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences.
Additionally, questions were taken from a LIVE studio audience in NSU’s Knight Auditorium, which included NSU undergraduate students, area high school students and community members.
