On October 20, 2011, Nova Southeastern University’s Office of Academic Affairs, and University Provost Frank DePiano, Ph.D., vice president for Academic Affairs hosted U.S. Senator Bill Nelson’s Military Service Academy Interviews.
Held in NSU’s Alvin Sherman Library, 75 tri-county area high school seniors were interviewed with hopes of receiving a Senatorial endorsement for entry into one of several United States service academies.
The review board conducts personal interviews with each applicant who meets pre-determined requirements. Selections are made competitively on the basis of academic performance, leadership potential, personal statement, extracurricular activities, personal interviews and letters of recommendation.
The academies include the Military Academy at West Point, NY, the Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs, CO, the Naval Academy at Annapolis, MD, and the Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Pont, NY.
