NSU to Host ‘Salute to Veterans’ Celebration, Nov. 19

Nova Southeastern University (NSU) proudly recognizes the contributions our servicemen, servicewomen, and their families make to our country. It is in recognition of and gratitude for these contributions that NSU will host the annual NSU Salute to Veterans and Service Members event.

In preparation for this year’s Salute, which will be held on Nov. 19, at 5:00 p.m. at the Rose and Alfred Miniaci Performing Arts Center, the NSU Office of Veterans Benefits collected pictures and stories from students, faculty, and staff who are veterans, active service members, or spouses and dependents of a veteran. These stories and pictures will be exhibited at the event and on NSU’s Web site at: www.nova.edu.

The event, hosted by the Office of the President, will feature a keynote address by Nancy Klimas, M.D., Professor of Medicine at NSU’s Health Professions Division, as well as remarks by NSU student Captain Earl Filmore. The event will also feature the University School Student Instrumental Ensemble. The Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences’ Student Instrumental Ensemble will provide music for the reception, which will follow the program in the Miniaci Courtyard. The Salute also serves as a kick-off for the University’s Toys for Tots campaign.  Collection boxes for donations may be seen around campus, and toys may also be brought to the event or dropped off at the Horvitz Administration building now through December 7th.

Invitations to the event were sent via U.S. Postal Service to students, faculty, and staff who have identified themselves as veterans or service members. All service members are welcome to attend.  If you served in the military and would like to attend (an RSVP is required), or if you have any questions, please contact Eva Goldstein at goldeva@nova.edu or (954) 262-7454.
