NSU Grant Writing Laboratory R01 Bootcamp Program
Recently, a select cohort of NSU faculty were invited to participate in NSU’s Grant Writing Laboratory’s inaugural R01 Bootcamp Program. The purpose of this initiative was to provide support for faculty who are planning to write a National Institutes of Health R01 or “R” grant application. The R01 Bootcamp took place over a period of three months, and consisted of a series of workshops, panel presentations, discussions, one on one consultations, and peer review. For participating faculty, the ultimate outcome is to write a fully developed research proposal to be submitted to the NIH.
The program was a collaborative venture with the University of Miami which hosted the first two workshops on their campus; subsequent workshops were held at NSU. The culminating session was a Mock Review Panel which simulated an actual NIH review session. The esteemed panelists included Dean Johannes Vieweg, M.D., Jean Latimer, Ph. D., Richard Jove, Ph.D., and Peter Gannett, Ph.D.
Plans are underway to continue the R01 Bootcamp Program in the spring of 2017 with a new cohort and a waiting list is already in progress. Interested faculty should email grantlab@nova.edu for additional details.
